Location

Our ‘casa’ is a couple of minutes’ walk to the nearest tapas bar (which is excellent), a general corner shop and the bakery, five minutes to the market, the supermarket, the internet shop, banks. It’s about ten minutes to the Plaza España.

With ever more bays and secluded beaches to be discovered, the coast and beaches of the Costa de la Luz are wonderful, wild, unspoilt. El Palmar, Los Caños de Meca and Cape Trafalgar are all about a quarter of an hour’s drive. Wind-surfing, surfing, etc and horse-riding are all possible. There is a newly constructed covered swimming pool in Vejer.

Vejer is also perfectly situated for plenty of sporting and cultural activities including:

  • walking in the Serra de Grazalema (50 minutes drive away);
  • swimming, surfing etc on the real Atlantic seas just a quarter of an hour away;
  • bird-watching on the coast, the wetlands north of Cadiz or the mountains of Grazalema;
  • horse-riding through the umbrella pines behind Barbate and on the beaches;
  • sherry-tasting in the many bodegas;
  • relaxing in the pools with massages in the beautifully renovated traditional
  • Andalusian baths in Jerez;
  • whale watching from a boat from Tarifa;
  • short visits to Morocco on the 35 minute hovercraft from Tarifa, and;
  • shopping in the bazaars and markets of Vejer, Cadiz and the many small towns nearby; and of course dining out in a mix of restaurants, Spanish, Moroccan, French, even Danish, or just wandering the narrow flower-filled streets of Vejer calling in to the many shops, boutiques, tapas bars.
